How to Use Free Samples Without Sounding Like Everyone Else

The single biggest mistake with free packs is using samples verbatim without processing. Every producer who downloaded that pack has the same samples. Using them raw makes your beat sound like the other 10,000 beats made from the same content.

The fix is simple: process everything.

For 808s: pitch-shift to your key, add distortion, layer with sub sine wave, EQ the mid-range to fit the mix. A free 808 processed this way is unrecognizable from the raw sample.
